Book Review: Gone Girl

Gone Girl Book Review

Did everyone have a good weekend? I had a crazy one celebrating my 23rd birthday and my brother coming home from Florida! Although this post is a book review and not a movie review, I have to say that as part of my birthday celebration I went to see Maleficent. You guys, it was SOOO good! It's a must see, but if you're more of a book reader than a movie-goer, this one's for you….

I read Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn over memorial day weekend, most of which was spent at my boyfriend's parents house. Believe me, I felt rude indulging in a book at their place during our visit, but they insisted they didn't mind which was great for me because I absolutely could not put this book down. The plot is based on a young couple's marriage that goes awry and early in the book Amy (the wife) goes missing. You'll spend the majority of the story going back and forth between which character you think is the "bad guy" and thanks to all of Flynn's unexpected twists you won't figure it out part 3. The author's wise character development is the reason the plot is totally probable and she brilliantly works out every last detail of the investigation. I recommended Gone Girl to a friend who is not a reader and wants to become one. To my surprise, she read it! The whole thing! In only about two weeks! I think that goes to show that anyone who already enjoys reading would love this book too :)
