DIY Coffee Mugs

DIYKatelyn3 Comments

Those of you who know me might recall that I have a little coffee mug obsession :) Sometimes choosing which mug I want to use in the morning is the toughest decision of my day! Here's a little craft I did this morning:

DIY Coffee mug necessesities:

- Plain white coffee mug

- Fine Point Sharpie marker

- Ultra Fine Point Sharpie marker

I got my mugs from a friend who was going to throw them away (can you believe it)! At first I wasn't sure what I wanted to draw on my mugs so I Google searched "easy designs to draw." I found some incredibly cute and simple patterns :)

After practicing the designs a few times on paper, I used a light-colored ultra fine Sharpie on the mug first (I was nervous!) and then I traced over it with the black fine point Sharpie. That's really all there is to it! Here are the designs I chose for my two mugs:

After you've completed the drawings, put them in the oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes so the marker gets baked on and stays there for good!

UPDATE: When using Sharpie be sure to make THICK lines so that the marker does not wash off. After putting mine in the dishwasher the lines that were thinner washed off. I ended up just going over the parts that washed off and baking them again and now they are fine, but if you want to avoid this hand-wash only or be sure to make thick lines!
