Hi.

Welcome to my blog. This is where I document my adventures as a 20-something. Hope you enjoy!

Remedies for the Shopaholic

The season of gift-giving is right around the corner which means lots of trips to the mall! If you're anything like me you have a hard time passing up a good deal on clothes. All my favorite clothing stores have their best sales of the year and I want in! I know I should be saving that money for friends and family gifts, but every year I get roped into buying a few things for myself too. As a little inspiration to avoid purchasing clothing items that I don't actually need I've been mixing and matching different pieces of my wardrobe more often. Here's an outfit I put together using all items that are at least 1 year old, but I'm sure the top and shoes are from 2-3 years ago. Guys, this is a big deal for me since I'm such a shopaholic and I'm also really good at getting rid of clothes that I don't wear! But the main reason I did this was to prove to myself (and you) that older clothes can still be utilized to make new outfits that follow current styles.

Another thing I've done that's been a BIG help when I'm out at the stores is create this list of things that I need to buy soon and a few items that I really truly want. Yes, I'm old fashioned and still handwrite all of my excessive amount of lists, but I also typed this one and sent it to myself on my phone so I can pull it up whenever I'm out and about. Basically how it works is if it's not on the list, I don't buy it. I might see a really cute t-shirt on sale for 30% off, but when I take a look at the things that I need to buy and remember that adorable Old Navy cardigan that I actually really want, suddenly the top doesn't seem so appealing!

Hope this helps!
