You probably can't tell, but about 20 minutes before these photos were taken I was in tears. There are a lot of things that bloggers and young entrepreneurs keep to themselves, but I'd like to shed light on something today. Kim and I met for some photos and girl talk and I remember telling her "I'm stressed. I'm so stressed and I don't know what to do about it. My anxiety is through the roof!" Something along those lines. That talk was followed by a conversation the next day with Dan which was essentially me breaking down and saying "I'm trying to be a small business owner, and a blogger, and a nanny, and a girlfriend, and a maid of honor, and…etc. etc." you get the point. I felt spread thin. The truth is the last few weeks I've been a bit paralyzed by anxiety. The excitement of Woodbury Lane's launch has ended along with the two big pop-up events I had been planning for months and I with all of that being over with a I felt a little lost and apprehensive of which step to take next.

So why am I telling you all this? Well first because I don't think 20-somethings hear it enough (The real world isn't always butterflies and rainbows…it's stressful)! And two because all it took was hearing one simple sentence for me to snap out of it. A sentence that I used to live my day to day life based around and somewhere along the way I seem to have forgotten about.

"Do something that changes your current situation."

Duh right? Now I'll admit, my "situation" is a bit complicated since giving up any one of the things that is stressing me out isn't an option, but it made me realize that I was filling my time with anxiety rather than productivity. Ever since I heard this I decided to change what I do have the power to change and that is how I spend my time. I'm ALL about routines lately (which I'll go into more detail about in a future post) and it has helped me immensely.

I'm hoping this little anecdote serves as a wake up call for someone just as the quote did for me. "Do something that changes your current situation," and your future self will thank you.

P.S. I need to hear if anyone else has gone through similar situations of anxiety and work paralysis! Share in the comments please ↓
