OMBRE DRESS

It's August and I'm thinking new year's resolutions! Hmmm...I can't remember if I shared my resolution for this year on the blog, but in short it is to focus on my creativity. It was late last year when I realized I was at my happiest state when doing something creative like drawing or reading and writing. Cathy Heller said it best in her podcast when she says, " Every time I’ve ever gone to a broadway show, or a movie, or I listen to music, or I go to a museum, or I’m walking through some beautiful store, or I’m at a spa, or I’m doing something that has to do with my soul, that has nothing to do with my basic needs, that’s when I come alive. That’s when I start to feel things and when I have epiphanies and start to see the world in a new way and learn and grow. And you are here to do what you love and as you continue to contribute what you love you’re gonna help the world to feel and you're gonna help people to feel alive in a way that they only do when they’re breathing in other people’s expression. "

Not only can creativity help us learn and grow, or help others feel less alone, but these are truly the moments we live for! The moments when we're not focused on our basic survival needs. I've come to understand that it is creativity not "fun" that keeps us inspired and creativity can be cultivated so simply by picking up a pencil and doodling, taking a class, scrolling through Pinterest, or reading a novel. Now that I'm more settled in with my new life I'm making more of an effort to find some time in the mornings and on weekends to be creative. I'll let you know what I choose for this weekend! What are some ways you stay inspired and creative each week?!
